Review
There’s an old expression: You never know how good your insurance is until you actually need it. Well, I’ve learned the same applies to insurance agents.
Wilke and Bud Smith have been selling me insurance for many years – life, auto, homeowners, etc. While they are very good at SELLING you insurance, they do not fight for you or back up their poor advice if there is an issue.
In my case, I called them to get some advice on switching my new auto insurance coverage, that was in effect for only 16 days, to a less expensive policy. I was told that if I switched policies at this time, I would pay for the days the policy was in effect (16 days), plus a small cancellation fee.
We’ll $480 out of my pocket later, I find out the SMALL cancellation fee was enough to pay for another several weeks of auto insurance.
Obviously, if I had been given better advice, I never would have changed policies at that time and waited.
When I asked Wilke if he felt they had any moral obligation to compensate me for any part of their bad advice, Wilke Smith said “NO” and that it was not their fault because I should have read my insurance policy – it’s spelled out there. So much for getting guidance and advice from a professional insurance agent!
Okay, lesson learned. But personally, in my opinion, this is not the sort of insurance company I prefer to do business with.
