Review
Jeff Demo made a good faith agreement to hire me as a Sales Agent for his insurance brokerage. He stated he would pay me $2000/month salary base + commissions from sales as well as pay for my P&C license (which included tests and application fees for theState(s) license(s)). After obtaining my license, he, at first, refused to pay my salary or reimburse me for the fees I incurred to get the license.
We had an exchange of 4 emails in January (two from me and two from him), in which I stated my position of the money he owed me for our initial agreement. He replied, stating that he originally wanted me to solicit from my “friends, family and current book of business” prior to me getting my license. THIS IS ILLEGAL PRACTICE IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY.
After explaining that I comply with the rules of the State and industry and would only solicit AFTER obtaining my license, I performed a mass marketing campaign AT MY EXPENSE AND ON HIS AGENCY’S BEHALF. Eventually, he stated he would pay as originally agreed and that, even though I didn’t do the pre-license solicitation as he wanted, he would “allow” me to solicit NOW that I have a valid license. He also stated that he would pay at the end of the month (as that is when he pays all of his bills).
The end of January and beginning of February came and went. I emailed, texted and left voice messages several times over the course of 1 1/2 months with no return call or message from him.
Finally, on March 9th, we had another exchange of emails where he stated, due to a “personal situation”, he would no longer be able to comply with the original contract. However, he stated he would pay the $2000 he originally owed me.
I do NOT recommend working with this “business” man. He requests that you NOT COMPLY with State regulations, DOES NOT COMPLY with contracts, DOES NOT communicate in a timely or professional manner and certainly DOES NOT PAY HIS CONTRACTORS OR PARTNERS for services rendered.
