I have had H & G for the last 9 months through a plan called Multi-Plan. The only pre-existing condition my wife had was hypertension which they told me would not exclude her from benefits as long as it was being controlled by medication.
We started having claims in Dec. 2010 which have included tests for MS, pulmonary and gastrointestinal problems. They have been absolutely horrible to deal with. (I am presently on hold and have been for the last 10 minutes. This is normal. If I leave a message to have someone return you call, that has only happened one time.)
They claim they don’t have medical records when they have never requested them, then after the doctors office verified that they have sent them, I had to have a three-way call to conclude that excuse. Now they are still denying all of her claims for a waiting period claiming “preexisting conditions”.
The only thing they have done is negotiate discounts which you can do yourself if you self-pay.
I had Hammerman & Gainer (Homeland HealthCare MultiPlan) and I have had nothing but problems every since. It has taken me a year to get things straighten out.
Now, I just hope they pay the claims like they should. They were taking money from my account and saying they never received payments and I was mailing in a check as well.
We will see if everything gets taken care of.
Having been in contact with two insurance companies who hired this TPA, I wouldn’t have them handle my trash. Way too incompetent.
Tried not to give them any stars at all, but couldn’t rate them that low.
The worst insurance company to use as they do not want to pay out claims but love to take your monthly premiums. I’m still working on a claim from last year to have them pay.
My son had never had a pre-existing condition prior to effective coverage. Hammerman & Gainer had asked me to fill out release forms to determine payments which I did and sent them back.
A month later I was sent another release form of records to sign, then at that point, I had called the customer service and told them that I even called the previous clinic my son had gone to release records to them. I called customer service multiple times to take care of the claims and was told that it was on the process.
To make it short, they got all my premium payment and at the end was told that they only paid two visits for $50 each which I was never told beforehand when I had applied for health insurance. It was like paying for yourself.
I should have kept the premium payment and use that money towards my son visit better than paying twice as much money total rip off.
