Called to get a quote and was quoted with Mercury Insurance. They told me since the violation code was wrong the company required $50 more on the down payment. My total down payment was $330. When I called a few days later to add another car to my policy they wanted to charge me $200 to add it.
I got a quote from another agency with the same company “Mercury Insurance” and was given more coverage for less. I called to cancel my policy with them and they said there is a $50 cancellation fee. I called My new agent and they informed me that the $330 I put down, that $200 of it was a broker fee and that is illegal to charge with Mercury. I was advised to file a complaint with the department of insurance. Which I did.
If you have any problem with this insurance agent please report them to the CA department of insurance. You will get your money back.
