My name is Candace Robinson and my husband and I bought a home and closed on it June 28, 2013. We bundled our home and car insurance through AAA. We had decided to go with AAA in April with another home that did not meet appraisal.
LaToash Knight at the Southaven, MS. Location had all of our paperwork for the first home so we went back to AAA with the second home. I wrote an $859.00 check to AAA just days before we closed to cover the cars for six months, two months later. We closed on our home and moved in.
On July 7, 2013, I received two letters from AAA. One stated that they were canceling our policy and the other was a collection for $150.00. We called Tosh she said she wasn’t sure what was going on but it would be taken care of. I checked our bank account and the $859.00 check written had cleared a few days after I wrote it.
I’ve called Mr. Pollock three times today, he has not called me back and my calls were sent to voicemail. Tosha is no longer taking our calls. No one knows what is going on. My husband called customer service and spoke to someone in St. Louis and she said the policy should have never been written because we had a claim on our other home within five years and the $150.00 collection was to cover the month of July and she had no record of the $859.00 being in our account.
So, I called our mortgage company and they said that AAA has already been paid a year’s homeowners insurance through our escrow!!!! I believe AAA preys on homeowners to extort as much money as they can. No one notified us that we could not have homeowners insurance through them if we had a claim, two trees were blown down in a storm, within five years.
So, AAA has been paid by our mortgage company, by us in the form of a personal check, and now they want $150.00 more. Please if you have had a similar experience with AAA please contact the BBB and an attorney.
