Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company was incorporated in 1986, originally as Atlantic Reinsurance Company under the law of the State of New York. The company was organized as a wholly-owned subsidiary by Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company. However, Atlantic Reinsurance Company discontinued its operations in 1993. Later in 1995, it changed its name to Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company, effectively ceasing the initial reinsurance business. Since 2004, Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company has been a subsidiary ofOne Beacon Insurance Group.
